Your City Called, It Wants You to Visit

On a recent flight, I got into one of those random airplane chats with a young couple sitting next to me. We were swapping travel stories and bucket list dreams when they casually dropped this bomb:
“We’re thinking of leaving Miami. It’s just so... boring.”
I blinked. Twice. You live in Miami and you’re bored?
They went on about how exciting other cities like New York and LA were. How there’s so much to do there. And then they get home and... nada. Crickets. Cue the tiny violin.
So, as a fellow Miamian, I hit them with a challenge: spend a weekend pretending you're a tourist. You know, like you don’t live here and everything is shiny and new. Jump on Viator or any tour site you’d usually use for trips, and see what’s going on right in your own backyard. Spoiler: it’s probably a lot.
Truth is, we’re all guilty of this. We’ll spend hours planning an epic trip across the world, only to completely ignore the magic sitting in our own city. So, I’m calling myself out, too. Time to fix that.
Here’s what I’ve booked in Miami over the next few weeks to shake things up:
Superblue Miami Immersive Art Experience

We did Frameless in London, and I nearly cried watching Starry Night swirl to life. So when I heard about Superblue, I was all in. Think mirrored labyrinths, glowing heartbeats, and walls that bloom and flow like digital waterfalls. Yes, please. And it’s family-friendly, so nobody gets left behind.
Wynwood Walls

I’ve always been a sucker for art — museums, galleries, street art, all of it. There’s something raw and beautiful about a giant mural that hits you right in the feels. Wynwood Walls has over 38 murals, a few sculptures, and even a subway cart because why not? Walk it, chill with it, soak it in. Zero pretension. Just pure creativity out in the open.
Little Havana Food and Walking Tour

Three words: guava. flan. ice cream. Okay, technically four, but you get it. Little Havana is packed with flavor, music, history, and probably the best Cuban food you’ll ever eat. This tour hits all the foodie highlights and gives you a taste of the culture. You’ll meet local artists, hear live music, and possibly adopt a new favorite snack. Or ten.
Axe Throwing “Axeperience”

Look, I’ve been wanting to chuck an axe for years. So why not now? This is a music-pumping, drink-sipping, rage-releasing good time. You’ll learn to throw from a pro and walk out feeling like a warrior with better aim. Even if you miss the target every time, it’s still way more exciting than rewatching the same Netflix show.
No matter where you live, there’s always something wild, weird, or wonderful waiting to be discovered. So here’s the deal: we’re doing this local travel thing, and we want you to come along. Check out what’s happening in your own city, try something new, and tag us if you join the fun. Bonus points if it involves guava pastries, axe throwing, or glow-in-the-dark art.
Let’s be tourists together — no passport required.
